


WDIV sportscaster Al Ackerman coined the phrase “Bless You Boys” in 1983 when the Detroit Tigers baseball team finally got a long-awaited win. Then in 1984 when the team hit a surprising series of wins, the phrase took on a life of its own, becoming a local and national rallying call as the Detroit Tigers went on to a World Series win that year!
