Pontiac was introduced in 1926 and named after the famous Ottawa chief, whose name was also used for the city in Michigan where the cars were produced.

This logo dates back to the early life of the brand. Chief Pontiac was famous for his rebellion against the British at Fort Detroit in 1763.
