GM Production Managers were asked, "What is a Camaro?" and the press was told, "a small, vicious animal that eats Mustangs."

Due to the fast and nimble nature of the vehicle, Assistant Director of Public Relations, Myron Scott, suggested naming the Corvette after the small maneuverable warship — and the name was approved.
