Listen up... See this? This... IS MY BOOMSTICK! It's a 12 gauge double barrel Remington. S-Mart's top of the line... You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about a hundred and nine ninety-five....
-Bruce Campbell, Army of Darkness
We'd like to give a huge happy birthday cyber shout to fellow Michigander and now famous director, Sam Raimi, the guy that brought us one of the most classic cult movies of all time.
Raimi grew up Royal Oak, along with his buddy, Bruce Campbell. The two would make home movies on their Super 8 camera and Raimi would eventually go to Michigan State University to major in English (if you've seen any of his movies, you've probably spotted random Spartan gear).
I can remember watching the Family Video VHS rental with friends in a basement in Cascade and howling in laughter. Still a movie I quote to this day because, like, how could you not?
Sam went on to larger movies after Army of Darkness (some tiny flick called Spiderman, for instance), but he had me at BOOMSTICK years earlier. Clip below:
