Today in 1959, Earvin "Magic" Johnson was born in Lansing, Michigan to Earvin, a General Motors assembly worker and Christine, a school janitor. In 1979, Magic helped win an NCAA national championship against Indiana State and some guy they called "The Hick from French Lick". Larry Bird and him would go on to the NBA as one of the best rivalries ever.
