Love,
"I'm a team guy, and I've been asked to do something, so I will."
-Kirk Gibson
Kirk Gibson was born yesterday in 1957. Happy Belated Birthday, Kirk!
Love,
"That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about a hundred and nine, ninety-five. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. YOU GOT THAT?!"
-Ash, Army of Darkness (1992)
Probably our favorite B-List actor of all time, Bruce Campbell made an otherwise terrible movie into a cult-classic. And being from Michigan makes him even cooler.
Love,
I guess I lost my way
There were so many roads
I was living to run and running to live
Never worried about paying or even much much I owed
-Bob Seger, Against The Wind, 1980
Whenever we think of Forrest Gump, we immediately think of Tom Hanks running across America to this song. One of Michigan's living legends, Bob Seger was born in Dearborn, MI in 1945.
Love,
This past Sunday, the world famous Bay To Breakers race was held in San Francisco. Known for it's zaniness, thousands of runners dress up in costumes and make a day of drinking, celebrating, and running through one of the coolest cities on the planet.

Janelle came by our office just north of Grand Rapids last week to grab a few of the Love shirts. When she explained why she needed 4 of them, we asked (begged?) her to send us some photos of her team. She not only made good on her promise, but she also ended up making the paper (photo #23). The "Mitten Kittens" from good ole' Grand Rapids, MI include Janelle Gunn, Paula Lemmon, Stephanie Meyers, and Becky Porter.
Love,
Today in 1931, the Robin became the state bird of Michigan. The Audubon Society held an election with 200,000 votes cast to decide which bird would represent The Mitten State. The Legislature's resolution added that "the Robin Redbreast is the best known and best loved of all the birds in the state of Michigan".
Love,
"Does everybody know what time it is?"
"TOOOOL TIME!!"
Tuesday nights in the 1990s wouldn't have been the same without the Taylors.
Love,
From 1965 to 1967, Water-Winter Wonderland was Michigan's state slogan found on all license plates. It was changed from simply Water Wonderland in the 1950s to include our marvelous winters.
Unisex Water-Winter Wonderland shirts here and Women's version here. On super soft tri-blend vintage tees.
Love,
A happy belated birthday to Detroit legend Joe Louis, Heavyweight Champion of the World! The Brown Bomber was born May 13, 1914 and spent 140 consecutive months as the reigning heavyweight champ from 1937 to 1949.
Love,
Lakes houses, bonfires, beaches, and starry nights. We're lucky to live in such a beautiful state. When you say you're going Up North, what do you think of? Traditionally, Up North has meant anything north of Clare to the Mackinac Bridge. But no matter where you actually mean, it's understood in Michigan that you're heading away to relax in Michigan's natural beauty.
Nab a I'd Rather Be Up North vintage shirt in unisex or women's cut.
Love,
Matt Giraud hanging out at home in K-Zoo when he's not busy touring the country. Showing some love for Michigan in his super soft sweatshirt.
Love,
Check out these 15 awesome places to visit in the Upper Peninsula. And a few fun factoids, too: did you know that the distance from the two ends of the U.P. is longer than from the Michigan-Ohio border to the Mackinac Bridge?
Love,
This past April 24th, Shawn Stockman-Malone captured the aurora borealis from the shores of the Upper Peninsula as they passed over Lake Michigan. Check out the time lapse video:
There are few things as beautiful as the Northern Lights.
