Can you drive a manual? Today in 1950, Chevy introduced the first automatic transmission for the masses. The Power Glide was gobbled up by America at a lightning quick pace - over 300,000 Chevrolets were sold within its first year.
Clearly, America could not be bothered to use a clutch! After GM's success, the remaining two of the Big Three jumped on the bandwagon, ending the reign of the manual transmission and further proving that the Motor City was the leading innovator in the auto world.
Sports cars should always have a manual, though. Don't even try to convince us otherwise.
