Today in 1970, over 200,000 people rocked their faces off at the Goose Lake International Music Festival in Jackson, Michigan!
The promoters set out to create an event that would beat Woodstock with better facilities and better planning. Entrance was $15, but once inside, you got free food, free firewood, free campsites, free parking, and the longest slide in the world! With a budget of over $1 million, it was supposed to be the "world's first permanent festival site".
Performances by Bob Seger, Rod Stewart, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Jethro Tull, and Chicago rocked for 3 days. Unfortunately... things got out of hand and 1970 was the first and only year that the festival took place.
