About This Design

GVSU First Football TeamIn keeping with celebrating GVSU's football history, we knew we needed a design for their first undefeated conference season.  The program had started in 1970 with 2 winless seasons and made astounding progress over the next decade.  Design elements were kept lighthearted, as if the shirt had been made in 1989, just after the season's end. Pictured left is GVSU's first football squad.

In 1989, Grand Valley State University's football team went undefeated for the first time with an 11-0 record. A school record was set by beating Valparaiso 91-0! Four players earned national awards. Go Lakers! This shirt was designed and printed in Michigan by The Mitten State. Made in the USA. Collegiate Licensed Product.
